GT Access Ltd

Published on: 22nd August 2024

GT Access Ltd, the UKs largest privately owned access company has recently taken delivery of 4 Sterling Combiload bodies to bolster its in house delivery fleet. The new bodies are fitted to Iveco X-Way 8×2 chassis cabs supplied by longstanding dealership Guest truck and van. GT Access operates over 3000 machines from 11 locations across the South and Midlands with access to national coverage through its association with the Access Alliance.

The new bodies are configured to deliver a wide range of access equipment in a safe and efficient manner, with the double flip ramp system providing the best possible loading angle for maximum safety. The specification includes the Sterling fold out fall arrest system which allows the handrail to be folded out to give an extra 500mm width for operator access when loading large machines. The sloping area is fitted with serrated steel decking for maximum traction when driving and walking on the deck, and ramp controls are fitted to both sides of the truck to allow the driver to always stand kerbside if facing into the traffic when unloading.

A new feature for GT Access is the serrated chain bars which allows chains with closed hooks to be fully locked onto the bars making it impossible for them to come loose and meeting regulations on load security.

Duncan Turk, Transport Manager commented that

‘We have had Sterling bodies on the fleet since 2017 and they have always performed well for the machines that we operate.  The backup support allows us to rely on maximum up-time for our delivery service to our clients. With the new livery and the enhancements to the specification, these trucks will allow us to maintain the highest standards of safety and efficiency for years to come.’

Also thanks to Vehicle Lining Services, Spillard Safety Systems and Rhys Signs and Branding for the additional fitments and livery.
