Managing Director, Peter Durey, revealed that, ‘the decision to give Sterling the opportunity to supply was based on the excellent lead times offered as well as their ultra-low ramp loading angle. The shallow slope is especially beneficial when loading large excavators, giving more grip and therefore safer and quicker operation than alternative designs. Likewise, the galvanised ramp systems ensure they will last for a long and safe working life. I found Sterling very easy to deal with as a company and the trucks were delivered in record time.’
The extensive specification include the innovative Sterling cheesewedge ramp system. This is the most advanced fold forward cheeswedge ramp system available to plant hirers today. The streamlined design of the ramp offers substantial reduction in drag when compared with traditional upright ramp systems, offering considerable fuel savings whilst reducing CO2 footprint.
Health and Safety is a priority for HE Services, which resulted in the trucks being specified with the Sterling ‘working at height’ handrail system to comply with latest working at height regulations.
Sterling’s commitment to National Small Series certification of Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) eliminates the need for IVA tests, resulting in faster turn-around time for clients and ensuring 100% delivery on the guaranteed 8 week build times offered. In addition, the culture of continuous improvement, the lean production processes and quality assurance systems ensures Sterling supplies unrivalled build quality and consistency. This allows Sterling to supply bespoke bodies designed to customers’ specific requirements, yet still guarantee total quality consistency.
The first vehicle operates from HE Services’ Liverpool depot and the second at the company’s HQ in Strood.
Jarl James, Sales Manager at Sterling, remarked that ‘the team at Sterling look forward to strengthening our relationship with HE Services in the coming years and assisting in their ongoing commitment to customer service and satisfaction’
