On Friday 26th March we were privileged to welcome Rishi Sunak, Chancellor of the Exchequer and our local MP to officially open the New Hymix Factory in Stokesley.
It was great to tell a positive story how we have benefited from the Government support through these times and have come out stronger creating more jobs in the North East. While our main brand Sterling which builds plant bodies has record sales and a full order book on the back of a busy construction sector we have invested £1m into a new production line for the Hymix mixers including creating 20 new skilled jobs over the next 12 months.
Mr Sunak inspected the first mixer off the production line which has been sold to local firm Ready Mix Tees Valley. It will soon be delivering concrete across Teesside to the many infrastructure projects which are gathering pace.
We discussed a wide range of topics including the investment in infrastructure, lean manufacturing and jobs created by the new factory as well as the challenges of training and recruitment.
Mr Sunak said the positivity of the James family and the Sterling team was impressive.
“It is very encouraging to see a business finding new markets and developing its team to meet a growing demand for their class-leading products.
“The last year has been tough but they are clearly well set to take advantage of increasing activity in the construction sector as the economic recovery continues.”

"‘We have had Sterling bodies on the fleet since 2017 and they have always performed well for the machines that we operate. The backup support allows us to rely on maximum up-time for our delivery service to our clients. With the new livery and the enhancements to the specification, these trucks will allow us to maintain the highest standards of safety and efficiency for years to come.’ "
