Sterling Renews Iveco Approved Body Builder Status

Published on: 10th February 2026

When you’re responsible for specifying, running, or maintaining vehicles, manufacturer approvals aren’t about logos – they’re about trust, compatibility, and avoiding problems down the line.

That’s why Sterling renewing its Iveco Approved Body Builder status, achieving Gold Status under Iveco’s programme, is an important step for operators running Iveco vehicles across light, medium, and heavier-duty fleets.

It confirms that Sterling bodies are designed, built, and installed in line with Iveco’s requirements – giving fleet managers confidence that the body and chassis are working together as they should, from day one and throughout the vehicle’s working life.

What Iveco Approval Means in Practice

All Sterling bodies built under Iveco approval conform to UK vehicle regulations in line with GB Regulation 2018/858, ensuring the vehicle meets the required standards for road use.

The type approval process also confirms that key sub-systems installed on the vehicle – including lighting, load restraint, and safety-related components – are individually approved and compliant with current GB regulations.

As an approved body builder, Sterling shares its type approval numbers openly. This transparency makes it straightforward for operators to access the relevant information and provides additional confidence when specifying, operating, or auditing vehicles within a fleet.

From an operator’s point of view, approval matters because it removes uncertainty. It means:

  • The body has been engineered to suit the Iveco chassis correctly
  • Vehicle compliance and type approval are properly considered
  • There is no compromise to vehicle systems, handling, or durability
  • Responsibility is clear – no grey areas between chassis and body

For transport managers and fleet directors, that translates into simpler specification, fewer issues in service, and greater confidence when vehicles are deployed into daily work.

A Strong Fit Across Iveco Chassis

The renewed approval is particularly relevant for operators running 7.2–12 tonne vehicles, where Iveco chassis – including the Iveco Daily at 7.2 tonnes – are widely used for construction, utilities, local authority, and plant hire work.

These vehicles tend to work hard in busy environments: urban sites, housing developments, short runs, multiple drops, and frequent loading and unloading. In those conditions, body design, strength, and integration really matter.

Beyond light and medium-duty work, Sterling’s Iveco-approved builds extend to X-Way and S-Way chassis, with 26-tonne and 32-tonne beavertail bodies designed for heavy plant, machinery transport, and demanding haulage duties, where durability, stability, and load security are critical.

Sterling also builds concrete mixer bodies on Iveco X-Way and S-Way chassis, supporting construction, infrastructure, and ready-mix fleets operating in rigorous and demanding environments.

In addition, Sterling builds on the Iveco Eurocargo, covering 14-18 tonne chassis commonly used for municipal work, utilities, distribution, and construction support roles, where reliability and day-to-day practicality are essential.

Sterling’s experience across these weight ranges means operators can specify Iveco chassis knowing the body has been designed with real-world work in mind – not just to fit, but to last.

Where the Miniload Fits In

One example of that is the Sterling Miniload – a compact beavertail plant body built specifically for 7.2-12 tonne vehicles.

The Miniload is designed for light-duty plant transport where access is tight and manoeuvrability is important, without losing the strength and build quality expected from a Sterling body. It’s a natural match for Iveco Daily chassis cabs used in groundworks, access hire, landscaping, and council fleets, where vehicles need to be agile, dependable, and easy to live with day to day.

The key point is simple: the renewed Iveco approval backs up what operators already expect – that the body and chassis are properly matched for the job.

A Relationship Built Around Operators

This renewal reflects the ongoing working relationship between Sterling and Iveco, focused on delivering vehicles that are straightforward to specify, compliant, and ready for work.

For operators, it means:

  • Confidence when ordering new vehicles
  • Reduced risk around compatibility and approvals
  • A clearer route from chassis order to vehicle on the road

In an industry where downtime costs money and reliability matters, those things make a real difference.

In Summary

Renewing Iveco Approved Body Builder status, and progressing from Silver to Gold, reinforces Sterling’s commitment to building dependable bodies that operators rely on every day.

For fleets running Iveco chassis – from 7.2 tonnes through to 32 tonnes – it provides confidence that the body and chassis are properly matched and built to work reliably in day-to-day operation.
